Plinth
This was a new word for me watching PBS Southern Storytellers last night. The segments featuring Natasha Tretheway are strong, very strong. I was introduced to her a few years ago on NPR and her Poem Miscegenation. Good use of the word Mississippi, with analogies, corollaries to Faulkner's Joe Christmas of Light in August. That novel thirty years ago was the first time I can say I began to understand him
Here is a link to her thoughts on the Plinth : https://www.pbs.org/video/natasha-trethewey-returns-to-new-orleans-8ubjbr/
It is strong, about all you need to know in five minutes or so. Watch both segments if you don't watch the whole thing, both segments on her. Makes Ron Desantis, Moms for Liberty look like unlearned white trash fools, and raises questions of whether Nikki Haley deserves to be on the board of Clemson Trustees, much less a Presidential candidate.
