Stephen Fox goes to Montgomery March 10

Kinda on a lark but it turned out to be a nice trip. At Exit 179 just north of Montgomery had a chat with several basketball players from a Division 2 school going to a tourney in Ohio. Nice Fellows, had good chat with one of them about Duke's Jabari and Creighton's McDermott. Told them my story about my onetime famous pickup game with Kevin Garnett when he was in 9th grade.

My ride let me out at the main library in downtown Montgomery after our pretown meal at Chic Fil A. After a little internet time there, I walked about five blocks over to Hall Street to see Martin Luther Kings pastorium from 54-1960. Had read about it in Taylor Branch and Marshall Frady's bios. Had a good chat with some magnet school 8th graders before my walk, that story will be in the edit.

From the pastorium I walked a circuitous route down to the state capitol. There I crashed a tour group from Wayne State law school and Civil Rights Center from Detroit. Tour guide was great, was actually there at the end of the Selma march in 65 and told us the exact window George Wallace looked out of down on MLKing as he was giving his arc of the universe prophetic word. The guide of color said Wallace was noted to have said King gave a good speech that day. That got some knowing smiles from the diverse group from Detroit.
I volunteered some remarks there in the Capitol building about my recent encounters with Bama House speaker Mike Hubbard. They were rapt with attention knowing they were hearing the latest truth about Alabama.

Went down to the Montgomery Riverfront. Had new meaning for me after last fall's view of 12 yrs a Slave and studied read of Walter Johnson's River of Dark Dreams.

Made an oblique report on Paul Finebaum show yesterday on national ESPN. Come back for edit and the Magnet School story.

Billy Graham, Joe McCarthy, Fox News and Issa Hearings

Fox News parked on the righteous indignation of Elijah Cummings yesterday in the Issa Hearings. I called his D.C. Office this morning as well as Trey Gowdy. I'm proud of Elijah and his righteous indignation. I hope he raises the level in a moment comparable to when Eisenhower took Joe McCarthy to the woodshed.
Google the New Yorker piece on Issa. Checkered past. The real issue here as N.C.'s Kay Haygood is spotlighting in her Senate Race against Art Pope and the Koch brothers is Americans United.

The Other issue is roger ailes of the Nixon Administration and Fox News. There is a new bio of Ailes: "The Loudest Mouth in the Room". Elijah should bring that up for Issa and Gowdy.

gowdy goes to church where Billy Graham has his membership, fbc Spartanburg. Can't BenGhazie Gowdy learn something from Graham's historic entanglements with Nixon. If not what good is FBC Spartanburg. Where does Gowdy have the Mah Fyburr to joust with Elijah Cumming.

So lets talk about the real matter here. enough of Trey Gowdy wearing his so called "Christian" street cred on his sleeve under Billy Graham's skirt while fronting for the Pharisees. Jesus threw them out of the Temple.

Hey Jesus, this time throw Roger Ailes out Toooo!

Read Joe Crespino's Strom Thurmond's America; and Molly Worthen's Apostles of
Reason. If you have acquaintances in Upstate South Carolina, in Jesus name give em a call and tell them to speak truth to the little Banty Rooster Fox News Darlin Trey Gowdy and vote against him. Bonhoeffer and Jesus would, on that I am clear!
