After they narrowly elected Ed Sitton of Saraland Alabama and defeated the near Qanon candidate of the deepest Trump base, Mike Stone of Waycross Ga, they turned around the next day and embraced for a neanderthal abortion resolution that called for no abortions anytime, anywhere, anyway no how. Founders Calvinist Tom Ascol and his brother concocted that one.

    But Sitton was a little more enlightened on critical race theory and Grant Gaines wants to be the second version of his father, and everybody prayed and went home. Baptist News Global, The Tennessean, Greg Garrison at al dot com have some great insight and coverage, and Chris Robertson of Parrotsville Tn, outside the Baltimore Community where I spent my first two years in this world has a grand piece on CRT and his local Tn State Senator Faison from Cosby. Chris needs to come over to Gaffney SC and pray with Congressman Ralph Norman and folks at FBC who seem to have lost their way on some of the political issues since the halcyon days of Jack Causey, Everett Chapman and Johnny McKinney.

    If  you do the wide reading on what just went down in Nashville--I would add Scott A Erwin testimony on facebook--it comes down to this. Trey Gowdy and his Training Union on Fox News Sunday nights produced in Spartanburg SC, last membership of Billy Graham, is still wining the hearts and minds of the people in the pew for variations of the Trump bloc. It started with lee Atwater forty years ago, Bush 41 signed on and then 43 with perfections by Karl Rove and Now we got Trump and Fox News on steroids and Babdists in the pew running around like chickens with their heads cut off confused as Hades about their country. Not many if any in their leadership are reading Jill Lepore, Azar Nafisi, and just a few are reading Good Faith Media, Religion Dispatches or Baptist News Global.

    Sadly they are lost and cant find their way. As noted Baptist historian Bill Leonard said, the question has become just how many documents do I have to sign to be a Babdist in good standing when  used to be the question was Do I accept Jesus as my Saviour and enter a pilgrimage of the warm embrace of the Gospel and the Mercy of the Saviour that bears fruit in righteousness and a life bent toward justice for all.

Guns, Critical Race theory, Gowdy Training Union on Fox, and How Many documents do you have to sign to be a Southern Baptist

      Depending on whether you take the Donnie Myers or Sandra Killian approach to what is happening this week in nashville will go a long toward how you approach this blog. I use them as representative from personal experience in Collinsville Alabama to get at the implosion of the SBC you can witness if you care to, this week in nashville.

    There has been an avalanche of reporting on the Trump base at prayer the last ten days in national media from NY Times, to CNN, New Yorker, RNS, Religion Dispatches, Baptist News Global, and Saturday a scorcher in the Wash Post. Critical race theory, the SBC Code, leaked emails, the Sovereign Nations interview in Blackshear Ga outside Waycross, the legitimacy of the FCA which Bobby Richardson championed, all in play as 14 to 17 thousand Babdists convene in Nashville.

    Momma walked out on Charles Stanley and Jerry Vines in Atlanta in 86 and just now others are catching up. Others like aforementioned Myers say and continue to be oblivious to where their cooperative program dollars are going with a "why bring it here", mentality, or as they say in Collinsville, How is it playing in Geraldine and Fyffe. Sandra Killian never liked me anyway so there is nothing I can say and as long as Martha and Gloria dont talk about it, it just doesnt matter.

    Trey Gowdy has his own Babdist Training Union now on Fox News, for all I know taped inside FBC Spartanburg SC where Super Trumper Eric Metaxas led the Truth for a New Generation conferences. But to date I havent seen anything on this latest Babdist upheaval in the Gaffney Ledger or Chronicle, Sburg HJ, Greenville News WSPA or My friend Four; so maybe its just me and Baxter Wynn who have a clue above I 20 that cuts through Columbia on over to Augusta and Atlanta to Bham.

I got this here and Bill Leonard who consulted on Furman's Seeking Abraham project had a jewel of a statement on a webinar over the weekend by Baptist Global news. He said the question has become, "How many documents do you have to sign to be a Southern Babdist in good standing" .
