Update 1-28/Jesus Christ visits Furman

Toni MOrrison on Barack Obama from the NY Times story on the Ted Kennedy endorsement:

''In addition to keen intelligence, integrity and a rare authenticity, you exhibit something that has nothing to do with age, experience, race or gender and something I don't see in other candidates,'' Morrison wrote. ''That something is a creative imagination which coupled with brilliance equals wisdom. It is too bad if we associate it only with gray hair and old age. Or if we call searing vision naivete. Or if we believe cunning is insight. Or if we settle for finessing cures tailored for each ravaged tree in the forest while ignoring the poisonous landscape that feeds and surrounds it.

On the very stage I emceed the Homecoming show of 73; but Jesus always gets more International Press.

Photo 31 in particular I found quite interesting

The Lord, Not a Muslim, but a Christian as the Father of His Associate Pastor Otis Moss IIIrd of Morehouse, (and Yale Div, just like Matthew Morgan); Da Lawd will be at Bartow Arena Sunday Noon in Bham for Church.
Otis Moss IIIrd's Dad will preach at the New
Baptist Covenant next Thursday afternoon while SBC President Jim Henry's Daughter Kate Campbell sings.
Google up Otis at OBama's UCC church; not a Mosque but a Christian Church where the associate pastor went to same Divinity School as native Collinsville Baptist now Methodist Christian Matthew Morgan.
Ask Matthew if Obama is a Christian and if you can't get him on the phone then ask his Mother Gloria or his Brother Jojo or ask his brother Mark's Duke Chaplain Willimon.
They will tell you Barack Obama is Saved and Bound for Heaven.
You don't have to believe me cause I've been churched.
Ask Gloria; even ask Raymond Weaver's daughter Susan; just ask if you aren't sure.
Back in October Kate sang at Lebanon, Dekalb County Alabama's Field of Dreams just 7 miles North of Collinsville where she got some good caterin.

I plan to be there since I am not welcome in Collinsville, Alabama.

I want to tell all my Hispanic friends to have their families tell all their Extended Families in California and New York.

This is the Time for Transformative Change. Ask Miguel De La Torre and Daniel Carro and all Matthew's friends at Yale.

Get the Word out.

As Martin Luther King, Jr. said; echoed by Oscar Romero and Barbara Brown Taylor

Let Justice Roll Down Like Waters and Righteousness Like a Mighty Stream.

Now is the time for the Meek and the working Poor to Inherit the Earth; the Time for Justice in America just like it was at Furman in a packed House on Monday.

Amen and Amen

Just where is this Collinsville located? It doesn't sound like a very nice place-even if it has a "field of dreams "nearby-Why don't you feel welcome in Collinsville? You come across on your blog as a very articulate and intelligent person who genuinely cares about what goes on in and around you-These Collinsvile people must be nuttier than fruitcakes if they can't get along with you!

"...a very articulate and intelligent person who genuinely cares about what goes on in and around you..."

Yeah, that's pretty much the vibe I've been getting.

Maybe Collinsville isn't an actual place, but a state of mind - a spectre called down by the author to remind us all of the dangerous human animal lying just beneath the surface of all God's children.

Maybe "Collinsville" is us...

To paraphrase Jesse James in the movie that comes out on DVD Feb 5 and you should see: "Do you want to be like me, or do you want to be Me?"

To answer your question about Collinsville; some of God's Finest people live in Collinsville, the kind that would champion a Harper Lee, Ron Rash or Flannery OConnor novel.
I have listed many of them before.
And then many of them aren't so fine but have redeeming qualities like you would find in Cormac McCarthy.

A Few of them are disturbed or the rest fear disturbing so much they will go along with them in a close vote to marginalize what they can consider an outsider to maintain their position in the town.

And as I have said many times before, some of it is my fault; and some don't understand my sense of humor.
But then again, how do you function in absurd circumstances, some of which is your own doing, if you don't play the Absurd card ever once in a while.
I only needed a 7 vote turnaround; lost a close call and the COS took it as a mandate to have a stompin
So much for "some" good Christian people.
At some point I will offer here a quote from Hardy Jackson I think is appropo.

At same time, I think you may be shuckin.
