The Sweet Promise of Atlanta Baptist Covenant
Among the North Carolinians who will take center stage at the celebration is the Rev. Ron Poythress, pastor of Triangle Baptist Church. Poythress, who is also a musician, composed a song for the event and was told recently he will be performing it just before Carter comes to the stage.
The song, called "Day of Jubilee," is a narrative retelling of Jesus' sermon to set the captive free and make the blind see. But it ends on the theme of coming together as "one family."
Poythress, who will strum the song on his acoustic guitar, said he has been waiting for this event for more than a year.
"It feels like this is not just a moment, but the beginning of a movement," he said. "We can do so much more together than by ourselves."

I have posted my thoughts on the NBC on cbscott.report.blogspot.com.
I also posted a comment on Big Daddy's blog under his post about President Clinton's speech at the NBC. I ask you to read both if you have the time and inclination.
